Q I Need a Ballpark Price Before Anyone Comes Out AI am sorry, but every home has unique installation requirements, and as a Factory Authorized Carrier Dealer we are required to complete an ACCA (Air Condition Contractors of America) manual J heat load calculation for each job. Your existing equipment sizing may not meet the standard for today’s new refrigerants and high-efficiency systems. Q What Brands do you carry? AEdison Heating & Cooling is proud to be qualified as a Factory Authorized Carrier Dealer. We offer a full line of Carrier products that come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. We have received the Carrier Presidents Award each of the last 4 years. Edison Heating & Cooling is in a unique position and can offer other products such as Lennox, Goodman, Comfortmaker and Amana. Your Comfort Advisor can help you select the right brand and products for your home. Please keep in mind the most important day of any new system is the day that it is installed not the brand you select. It is more important to choose the right dealer.
Q What Does A.F.U.E Mean? AAFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) is the energy rating that all gas heating systems are judged by. For example, a unit that is rated at 80% AFUE will provide only $80.00 worth of heat for every $100.00 in gas that it uses. Therefore, $20.00 is going right up your chimney. The higher the AFUE rating the less money you waste heating your home each month.
Q What Does S.E.E.R Mean? ASEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) is the energy rating that all air conditioning systems are judged by. The higher the rating the more energy efficient the unit is. It is like the MPG rating for a car. The higher the rating the less gas your car will use to go each mile. Each SEER point could save you up to $50.00 per month in operating cost. Or hundreds of dollars over the cooling season.
Q What is Single Stage? ASingle Stage is the term used to describe the operation of a gas valve in a basic gas furnace. This simply means the unit is on at 100% of its capacity. So if your home is already warm the additional heat goes out the chimney and is lost. Almost like opening a window in the middle of the winter. These furnaces often cycle on and off causing hot and cold drafts in your home and more wear and tear on the equipment as a result.
Q What is Two Stage? ATwo Stage is the term used to describe the operation of a gas valve in your furnace. This simply allows the gas valve to open only 50% of the way to reduce the amount of gas going into your furnace. This allows the system to run longer and helps provide a more even temperature in your home. Your furnace will cycle less frequently providing for less wear and tear on moving parts.
Q Who Will Come To My Home? AOur Comfort Advisor will arrive at your home dressed in our company uniform and will be driving a company vehicle that carries our permanent lettering and logos.
Q Why do I have to be Home? AOur Comfort Advisor must have access to your home to complete their necessary paperwork in order to provide our written quote (see appointment time). We ask that everyone involved with the installation be present to eliminate any and all questions regarding the installation, products, rebates and guarantees. Our services are in very high demand and it is very difficult and costly to make return visits. There are often daily specials and scheduling incentives that become available and are purchased only while available. Every Comfort Advisors goal is to get the best possible price for each and every homeowner.
Q Will I receive a quote or an estimate? AEdison Heating & Cooling will always provide a written quote on every job. This means you pay the price that is quoted and nothing more. Many other companies provide an estimate which means there are often hidden charges that come after or during the installation such as permits fees, electrical wiring and oil tank removals.
Heating & Cooling
Q Can My New Air Conditioning System Act as A Dehumidifier? AWith the Carrier Infinity System, you will have the ability to control the humidity level in your home for both heating and cooling. During the summer months the system will run at lower speeds and maintain the humidity level so when cooling is required your home will cool faster and be more comfortable. Two speed or variable speed air conditioning is recommended but not required. Only available with Carrier Infinity furnaces on air handlers.
Q Do You Sell Whole House Dehumidifiers? AEdison Heating & Cooling offers a complete line of Aprilaire and Carrier Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) products including whole house dehumidifiers. They can be added to any warm air heating system or ducted in for a standalone operation. A site visit is required by our Comfort Advisor for pricing.
Q What is a Modulating Gas Furnace? AWhen describing a gas furnace modulating, the gas valve is constantly adjusting to allow more or less gas into your furnace to better regulate the heating in your home. All modulating furnaces come with variable speed blower motor. Most brands use a timer to control this operation. When paired with the Carrier Infinity Control, your modulating furnace will regulate the output of your furnace to provide a constant air temperature in your home as required by the room temperature. The Infinity Control will also regulate the fan speed to provide a blanket of warm comfortable air circulating throughout your home and will all but eliminate hot and cold spots in your home.
Q What is a Two Speed Air Conditioner? AHigh-efficiency air conditioners use a compressor that has a high and low-speed motor built into it. This allows for easier starting, better dehumidification and more even cooling in your home. These compressors are also much more energy efficient and start and stop less to save energy and wear and tear on the system. Two-speed compressors work well for dehumidification and provide more even comfort in your home.
Q What is a Variable Speed Furnace? AWhen used to describe a furnace, the term variable speed refers to the indoor blower motor or fan on a high-efficiency system. This allows the blower motor to speed up and slow down gradually to eliminate the blast of cold air often felt when a furnace first comes on for heating. Most brands use a timer to control this operation. When paired with the Carrier Infinity Control, the variable speed motor becomes more independent and will regulate the fan speed based on room temperature to provide your home with warm air circulating throughout your home to help eliminate hot and colds spots during the heating season. During the cooling season, when paired with the Carrier Infinity Control, the blower motor will optimize its speed to provide quicker cooling at higher room temperatures and more gradual cooling once the room is closer to temperature. This results in improved dehumidification and a higher level of comfort in your home. These motors are very energy efficient and often save over $100.00 per season in energy costs. A standard gas furnace offers a multi-speed blower motor or fan and can be set for individual speeds. One speed for heating and another for cooling and they are not adjustable based on temperature or humidity.

Whole house transfer is available only on the 22KW model. A site visit is required for pricing. Commercial generators are available by request and a site visit is required.
Q Should I Replace My Furnace and Air Conditioning at the Same Time? AWhile you are not required to replace both pieces of equipment at the same, it is always recommended. Today’s high-efficiency systems receive all their energy ratings as a complete system. So to maximize your energy efficiency it requires a matching set of equipment. Often we replace a washer and dryer at the same time because they often wear out at the same rate. Usually, in a home, the air conditioner has a shorter lifespan but furnace repairs often become more frequent and expensive at the same time. People often spend money on short-term repairs when they could already be saving with a new high-efficiency system. It is also cost-effective to replace both pieces of equipment at the same time since we can optimize our field labor and expenses with one visit to your home and pass the savings along to you.
Q What Type of Systems Do You Install? AEdison Heating & Cooling will install most residential or commercial heating & cooling systems. Our systems include oil, gas, propane and electric. We install hot air furnaces, central air conditioning including overhead and high-velocity systems. We offer a full line of heat pumps both ducted and ductless mini split systems. We offer water and steam boilers and packaged heat or cooling units for rooftop or ground installation.
Q When Can I get it Installed? AMost replacement systems only take one day to complete. Our installation schedule will vary by demand but usually, we can complete a next day installation if required. A waiver of notice of cancellation is required for all next day installations. Local zoning requirements may delay your installation until a zoning review has been completed. This will vary from municipality to municipality. Weather or medical emergencies are handled with immediate response by all municipalities if necessary. New systems often require multiple days to complete the installation and must go through the permit process so your schedule will be subject to your local municipal offices' response time.
Q When Do I Pay for My Installation? APayment is due in full at the completion of your installation. All finance paperwork must be completed before the installers leave your home. On occasion, your project may require multiple visits and a payment schedule will be provided by your Comfort Advisor.
Q Will my Installation Require a Deposit? AEdison Heating & Cooling does require a deposit of $500.00 dollars or 20% of any unfinanced balance.
Warranties
Q Do You Offer Extended Warranties? AI am sorry we do not offer any extended warranties. Our new systems often come with a 10-year parts and labor warranty.
